Dr. John Kokkinakis
Dr. John Kokkinakis was born in Montreal.
He attended Marianopolis College and then McGill University where he obtained a B.Sc. in Human Anatomy (1984) followed by his Doctorate in Dental Surgery (D.D.S) in 1986 where upon graduation he received the Dr. James Mc Cutcheon Medal for outstanding leadership, scholarship and professional achievement.
During his dental training at McGill University, Dr. Kokkinakis enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. Upon graduation from the dental program he was promoted to the rank of Captain and posted to Ottawa South as a Dental Officer where he served for 3 years.
During his military career, he received training in forensic dentistry and was appointed Forensic Dental Officer for the Ottawa area.
In 1987, Dr. Kokkinakis began his private practice at 'Place D'Orleans Dental Office'.
He enjoys all fields of dentistry including endodontics (root canals), dentures, esthetic dentistry (including veneers, all ceramic crowns, bridges and zoom whitening), basic restorative and paedodontics (children).
Dr Kokkinakis has not stood still with his continuing dental education since dental school.
He has trained and now also provides treatment in orthodontics (Invisalign, functional orthopedic appliances, braces), TMJ dysfunction, CEREC (same day ceramic crowns and onlays), laser treatment, sleep apnea and implant restorations.
His most recent certification was for the treatment of gingival recession (receding gums) using the Chao Pinhole Surgical Technique.
He is a member of the Ottawa Dental Society, the Ontario Dental Association and the International Association for Orthodontics.
Dr. Kokkinakis is married and has 3 wonderful children, a daughter and boy/girl twins.
He enjoys his work, his family life and several sports such as cycling, scuba diving, cross-country and downhill skiing, ice hockey, weight training and golfing.
For many years now, he’s been involved in coaching local teams in hockey and competitive soccer.
He also enjoys cruising on his motorcycle.
Dr. Kokkinakis is fluent in English, French and Greek.
