Pinhole Treatment in Orléans
A DIFFERENT APPROACH TO GUM RECESSION
Traditional gum grafting isn’t the only option anymore. In certain cases, gum tissue can be gently loosened and slid back into position through a tiny opening. This method is called the pinhole technique, and it doesn’t require stitches.
HOW IT WORKS
Instead of removing tissue from somewhere else, the dentist makes a very small entry point in the gum. Special tools are used to free the tissue and move it down to cover the exposed root. Collagen strips may be placed to help keep the gum stable as it heals.
WHAT PATIENTS NOTICE
Because there’s no graft taken from the roof of the mouth, recovery tends to be smoother. There’s less discomfort, and people often go back to normal routines more quickly than with grafting.
WHO IT’S FOR
The pinhole technique isn’t right for every case of gum recession. The dentist will check the overall gum health, the amount of tissue left, and whether the roots can be covered this way. For the right candidate, it’s a less invasive alternative that can provide lasting coverage.
WHY THIS OPTION MATTERS
Receding gums can lead to sensitivity, decay, and bone loss over time. By treating it early, patients protect their teeth and make everyday care easier. The pinhole approach simply offers another way to get there.
