Dental Bonding, Inlays & Onlays in Orléans
FIXING TEETH WITHOUT A FULL CROWN
Not every tooth that needs work has to be covered by a crown. Sometimes a small chip or cavity can be fixed with a simpler approach. Other times the damage is too big for a filling but doesn’t quite call for a crown. That’s where bonding, inlays, and onlays fit in.
DENTAL BONDING
Bonding is the quickest option. A dentist shapes a tooth-coloured resin directly onto your tooth, hardens it with a light, then polishes it so it blends in. It works well for minor chips, small gaps, or areas where the enamel has worn down. The whole thing is usually done in a single visit.
INLAYS AND ONLAYS
Think of these as a middle ground between a filling and a crown. An inlay fits inside the grooves on the top of a tooth, while an onlay covers one or more of the raised edges. They’re custom-made, often from porcelain, and bonded in place during a second visit. Stronger than regular fillings, they help reinforce teeth that do a lot of chewing.
WHAT PATIENTS NOTICE
After treatment, most people say the tooth feels steadier, like it can handle food better again. Bonding feels natural almost right away. Inlays and onlays take a little longer since they’re made outside the mouth, but once fitted, they blend in closely with the natural tooth.
WHY IT’S WORTH CONSIDERING
These options are about protecting what you already have. By repairing damage without covering the whole tooth, you keep more of your natural structure intact — and avoid bigger treatments down the road.
